Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Fabledrift is an interactive fiction app in which the scenes you read are generated by an AI model. This policy explains what data the app handles, which companies process it on our behalf, how long it is kept, and how to delete it. It is written to be read, not skimmed; the short version is in the first section.
1. The short version
- The text of your story, the moves you write, your notes and your questions to the narrator are sent to Anthropic to generate the next scene. We ask for your consent before the first scene, and you can withdraw it at any time in Profile.
- Your account, stories and balance are stored with Google Firebase in the European Union.
- We do not sell data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your stories to train AI models.
- You can delete everything yourself from inside the app.
2. Who is responsible
The data controller is Fabledrift, operated by Çağtay Özbek. Contact: support@fabledrift.com.
3. What we collect and why
Account
When you first open the app we create an anonymous account with a random identifier so your stories can be saved. If you choose to link an email address and password, we store the email address so you can sign in on another device and recover the account. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
Story content
Each story stores the scenes the narrator wrote, the moves you wrote, the narrator and tone you chose, the story's structured memory (facts, characters, places, promises), notes you add, and questions you ask the narrator. This is the product; without it there is no story to continue. Legal basis: performance of the contract, and your consent for the AI processing described in section 4.
Usage and balance
We record your credit balance, the number of scenes generated per day, the narrator used, and the model usage (token counts) of each scene. This is what enforces the free daily allowance, charges credits correctly, and lets us detect abuse. Legal basis: performance of the contract and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the free allowance.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Google Play. We receive a purchase token and the product identifier so we can credit your account. We never see your payment card or billing address; Google's own privacy policy governs payment data.
What we do not collect
No location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, and no analytics SDK. The website sets no cookies and runs no third-party scripts.
4. AI processing: who sees your story text
Scenes are written by Claude models operated by Anthropic, PBC (United States). To write a scene, we send Anthropic the story's system instructions, its structured memory, recent scenes, your notes, and the move you just wrote. Anthropic processes this data as our processor under its commercial terms, which prohibit using API inputs and outputs to train its models. Requests are not linked to your email address; they carry only what the narrator needs.
The app asks for your explicit consent before the first request and records the answer on the server. You can withdraw consent in Profile; the app then stops generating new scenes but keeps finished stories readable and exportable. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened.
5. Where data is stored, and for how long
Accounts, stories and balances are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase) in the European Union multi-region (eur3). Authentication is provided by Firebase Authentication. The scene-generation service runs on Google Cloud in Belgium (europe-west1). Google acts as our processor under the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
Stories and notes are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Usage logs used for abuse prevention are kept for 90 days. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and consumer law require. When you delete your account, everything above is removed immediately from the live database; encrypted backups expire within 30 days.
6. International transfers
Sending story text to Anthropic is a transfer to the United States. It is covered by Anthropic's data processing terms, which incorporate the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. No other data leaves the EU.
7. Your rights
You can access, export, correct and delete your data, withdraw consent, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Most of this is built into the app: Export on a finished story, the AI consent control in Profile, and Delete account in Profile. For anything else, or to complain, write to support@fabledrift.com. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
Fabledrift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Each world declares a content level on its cover (for example 13+ or 16+). If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the account.
9. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Server rules deny every write that could change a balance or a story from anywhere except our own functions. AI provider credentials are held in a secrets manager and never shipped in the app.
10. Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will show the new version and ask you to acknowledge it before the next scene. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
