Plans and credits

One credit is one scene.

Richer narrators cost 3 or 5. That is the whole system: one currency, no tokens, no wheels. Memory and stepping back are free on every plan; retelling a scene is free on the Apprentice and once a day on the richer narrators, after which it costs the narrator's price and the button says so. The price of a story is shown once, before it starts, never while you read.

Purchases open after the Play launch. Everything below is published so you know what is coming; nothing can be bought yet, and nothing is charged.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a credit?

One credit is one scene told by the Apprentice. The Chronicler costs 3 credits a scene and the Oracle 5. A full story runs about 28 scenes, so a Chronicler story is roughly 84 credits. On a subscription an Apprentice scene draws 2 credits from the day; for free readers it costs nothing.

How does the daily allowance work?

A subscription gives you a fresh allowance of credits every day. It does not pile up: what you do not read today is not carried into tomorrow. That is what keeps the price fixed and the reading unhurried.

Do credit packs expire?

No. A pack is yours until you spend it, and it works alongside a subscription or without one.

What is free?

Reading with the Apprentice is free every day: five scenes a day for your first week, one a day after that, for good. New readers also get 30 welcome credits. Memory, stepping back, the story journal and one illustration per story are free on every plan; retelling is free on the Apprentice and once a day on the richer narrators.

When can I buy?
